R.A.N Tip of the Week! Taking Nutrition In My Own Hands by Tiffanie Perea


The health food craze is spreading throughout New York . We are seeing more health food stores and juice bars in places that at one point only had fast food restaurants and bodegas. Unfortunately, not every part of NYC has seen this awakening especially where I work.

I work in the soundview section of the Bronx as a high school science teacher. The Main Street (Westchester Avenue) is littered with bodegas, McDonald's and places where you can get the "best" chicharone (fried chicken) and mofongo(smashed green plantain) . Being a Vegan, this is like a nightmare! This is when I birthed my green nutritional powdered "saved by the greens" . With the super green nutrient wheatgrass as it's base, I've blended it with Spirulina, Sea Kelp, Flax Seed, Ginger and Chlorella. This nutritional powder is a great meal replacer in case I forget lunch. I can mix it with some apple juice or a fresh juice from a small deli I discovered by my job. (thank God!)

My green nutritional powder fortifies the organs and blood as well as cleanses the body of any impurities. The sea kelp packs it with more vitamin C than in any other food known to man. The ginger increases circulation and the flax seed ensures regularity. I've extended my product to the Dean of my school and he has loved the energy it gives him during a hectic day. This is definitely the perfect companion that eases stress on the job and with the stress of the weather on our body functions that is essential to help building your immune system.
