TIP OF THE WEEK: August 10th

Natural Hair: The only place fat should be on your body, is in your hair! Ladies and Gents, I can not stress the importance of a deep conditioner EVERY time you wash your hair! Your crown needs to be replenished of nutrients stripped from your hair that causes excessive dryness after exposure from the varying weather. I have an awesome, fatty and healthy conditioner you can make from the following items right in your kitchen: Avocado-Mayo conditioner 1. (3) tablespoons of Mayonnaise 2. (1) large Avocado Peel and remove pit of the Avocado. Mash and mix thoroughly with Mayonnaise. Apply mixture into hair from root to tip. Cover head with a plastic cap and let sit for 30 minutes. If you have any left over, store in fridge until your next hair wash. The benefits of the fat from the Avocado and cholesterol from the Mayonnaise provides strengthening and moisture to the hair shaft to prevent breakage and promote healthy growth. Health and Wellness: A Pineapple A Day! Do you know the true value of a pineapple? This delicious fruit is not only sweet and tropical; it also offers many benefits to our health. We find it enjoyable because of its lush, sweet and exotic flavor, but it may also be one of the most healthful foods available today! Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme, is the key to pineapple's value. Proteolytic means "breaks down protein", which is why pineapple is known to be a digestive aid. It helps the body digest proteins more efficiently. It also is considered to be great for easing the pain of arthritis or sinusitis and effective anti-inflammatory. The juice has an anthelmintic effect; it helps get rid of intestinal worms. The pineapple also has many other health benefits such as high in manganese, a mineral that is critical to development of strong bones and connective tissue. A cup of fresh pineapple will give you nearly 75% of the recommended daily amount. It is particularly helpful to older adults, whose bones tend to become brittle with age. Regular ingestion of at least one half cup of fresh pineapple daily is purported to relieve painful joints common to osteoarthritis. It also produces mild pain relief. It's also good for a healthier mouth. The fresh juice discourages plaque growth. Now that you know the benefits of a Pineapple, let me share with you how to pick a ripe one. Color is relatively unimportant in determining ripeness. A Pineapple stops ripening the minute it's picked. You should choose your pineapple by smell. If it smells fresh, tropical and sweet, it will be a good fruit. The more scales on the pineapple, the sweeter and juicier the taste. "It's All About Living in A Natural State of Mind"
